Thoughts…

Maybe because of all the tragedies going on in the world, but a recent tweet from the Van Gogh Museum touched us.
It’s a picture of a pair of old shoes.
Not a typical painting by this Post-Impressionist master who normally paints colorful, vibrant (vibrating?) landscapes or almost surreal self-portraits. But one filled with poignancy, and yes, angst.
Whose shoes? Worn and dirty, empty, standing on a bleak non-descript surface. Where have they gone, what roads have they traveled?
And, in an added twist, this painting has been done over another one… a view of/from the painter’s brother’s apartment.
Looking out over the constantly changing view of life outside our window, or down at the reflection of where we’ve come down to one thing: what we choose to focus on.
Life goes on.
